John
John began working with Prairie Health’s team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists, each focusing on different aspects of his care while working together toward the same goal—helping John remain safe, active, and engaged in daily life.
His physical therapist focused on improving his strength and balance. Through simple exercises and walking routines, John gradually became more steady on his feet and more confident moving around his home.
His occupational therapist worked with John and Mary on daily routines. Together, they created strategies that made dressing, preparing simple meals, and moving safely through the house easier for John. They also made small adjustments around the home to reduce fall risks and simplify everyday tasks.
John also worked with a speech-language pathologist who helped him strengthen communication skills and develop strategies to support memory and word-finding. These sessions helped John feel less frustrated and more confident during conversations with Mary and their family.
The combined therapy approach has made a meaningful difference. John has become more comfortable with his daily routine, and Mary feels more confident supporting him at home.
“Having therapy come to us made all the difference,” Mary shared. “The therapists understand John and help us find ways to make everyday life easier. It gives us both peace of mind.”
Today, John continues to enjoy time at home with Mary, taking walks around the neighborhood and spending time with their grandchildren. With the support of Prairie Health Group’s therapy team, they have been able to maintain the routines and independence that matter most to them.
